Snow...and lots of it!!

So as you all have probably seen by the recent news coverage, my Christmas was WHITE! I didn't think the snow would ever stop! I just sat and watched it. All day long. Well, not all day, there were games to be played, food that was calling my name, treats to be ate, etc. But the snow kept coming!!! Here are some pictures of the entire process...Enjoy!

Karaoke

karaoke (kar-ee-oh-kee)

-noun
An act of singing along to a music video, esp. one from which the original vocals have been electronically eliminated.
-origin
Japan kara=empty + oke=orchestra
This, my fellow bloggers, is my new favorite pastime. Karaoke. As many of you might have known, I loved it before, but rarely had the opportunity to take part, since the STG just wasn't the happening place for it. But in the state of many lakes it can be found EVERYWHERE! They do however prounounce it differently. Some say ka-ro-kee, as if there is no e sound in it at all. It must just be the accent. To them it all sounds the same.

Out of all the various activites in the land o' lakes, why would I choose karaoke, you ask? Well, for starters, it is a sport that all can participate in. Yes it is a sport. It requires stamina, adequate breathing, at least a fourth grade reading level, and for some (sorry mum) rather large balls. However, other than those requirements, one thing that it does not require is musical talent. Trust me, there are some people that I have heard that sound like they are calling in their pigs, not trying to sing Carrie Underwood. But that my friends, is why it is so fun. For about an average of three to four minutes, under the glow of a bud lite sign and disco ball, it allows some of us to feel like the stars American Idol told us we could never measure up to.
So I challenge you blog readers in the upcoming 2010, pick up the mic, crank up the Michael Jackson, Billy Idol, Pat Benetar, Salt N' Pepa, ACDC, or whatever tickles your fancy, and follow the words that light up on that screen. Karaoke your little hearts out. You just might find yourself a new hobby.

Circle of Friends.

I got this from a friend/neighbor back in Utah. She posted an award on my blog and told me to pass it on. I normally don't do this sort of thing, but I figured, hey....it's Christmas! Why not!

First I have to tell you 5 things about myself, then I have to pass it along to 5 other wonderful girls!! So here goes:

1. I love to cook, or at least pretend that I can. I love to try new and crazy foods. I have eaten everything from octopus to escargo. I figure try everything once!!

2. I tell people all the time that my hair is naturally red. I have a lot of people that ask, and I got tired of that look of sadness, like I was breaking their hopes and dreams, so I just started lying!

3. I love to fish! It is so relaxing. I love just sitting there, talking to whoever you are with. I went fishing with my brother once for a whole day, and I didn't catch anything but a stick. I kept that stick until I moved out here. (it sort of fell apart).

4. I love to talk to strangers. I could carry on a complete convo with a stranger for hours. That is one thing I love about living here. NO ONE knows me! They are all strangers! I am not related to anyone, no one has ever worked with, dated, gone to school with, my dad, grandpa, cousin, or brother, or other relative somewhere along the line.

5. I Love to shop. Thats no secret, but I HATE to try clothes on. There is something about going in that little box, then staring at yourself at all angles, I just don't like it! I would rather buy clothes, then return it, rather than trying it on.

Dont forget the rules!

Grab the award. Post it on your blog, along with 5 things you like to do!

Pass it along to 5 bloggers you'd like to recognize.

*Don't forget to tell them about the award*

1. Kate. Everyday when I log onto my blog, I always hope that Kate has posted something new and exciting. Her blog always makes me smile. She and I are kinda on the same boat right now, both taking on a new adventure, and living away from the place we called home for so many years. She is also uber creative. Creative enough to have two blogs. Which I get even more excited about when I see that she has updated her second blog. I think that if Kate had lots of money and lots of time, she could be party planner/interior decorator to the stars. I love getting phone calls from her, and sharing complaints about patients and nurses at our jobs.

2. Errin. This is another blog that I check out quite frequently. If my family ever gets together again, I would love for Errin to do our pics. She is freakin AMAZING!! Her sister Michelle and I went to high school together, and Errin has the most adorable little girl Ali. If you ever want pictures taken by an awesome chiquita! Check this one out!!! Who would have ever thought that all this talent was wasted all these years from yelling "free meal!"

3. Lyndy Lou. This girl has got it going on! I have no idea how she does it! She has two adorable boys, which is a feat in itself! But she also teaches piano and guitar to aspiring little rock stars in the St. George area. She herself is amazingly talented. She is one of those people that make you so jealous because musical talent comes so naturally to her. She has started a new blog, which I am so excited to follow. By the end of the year, she hopes to run a marathon, read the BOM, and start to rock n' roll again. It is gonna be freakin awesome. You go girl. You probably run a marathon a day chasing little Max around!!

4. Jessica. This creative girlie and I went to school together. But I didn't hear to much from her after that. Turns out she is a travel junkie, just like Kate and I!! She lived in London, and recently she lived in a little tiny apt in New York City!! How jealous was I when I heard this? Super!! She takes amazing photos, and has the most unique style. I love reading about her adventures at the singles ward. Trust me Jess, the same stuff has happened to me, probably all of us.

5. Last but not least, Brandy, the lovely miss that passed this post onto me. She lives just up the street from my parentals back in Utah. She has three adorable kids, JD, Tyson, and Piper, whose middle name by the way is Hermione. Whether you are a Harry Potter fan or not, that is just freakin cool. Brandy is from a small town of Marysvale, UT. But don't hold that against her. She has turned out great (so has her brother, I used to have a little crush!) She is UBER creative. We had a church calling together for awhile, and she was always coming up with awesome stuff. Now, she manages three kids, two blogs, one husband, and numerous other things! I don't know how she manages it all, but she does!!!

All right bloggers! Pass this on if you'd like!!

Christmas Party, VFW style

I have no idea why this picture is so small...when I tried to enlarge it, it went uber blurry. So just to give you the low down on the wonderful girls I work with, here they are, Back Row: Hannah, Me, Sue, Cathy. Bottom Row: April, Pam. On Saturday night I attended my work Christmas party. Good times. It was fun to see everyone outside of work. We were all in attendance, except Dottie, or "mother" as she is known by everyone around the whole Medical Center. She said "I go every other year, and I went last year..." It was Sue's last night with all of us, she just took a job in St. Peter, which will be a lot better for her, but sad for us. Sue has been so nice to me. She was the first PCC that I met when I came to St. James. I knew that we would get along great she complimented me on my hair, and I complimented her on her eye glasses. She has great style and loves to shop just like I do!! I am gonna miss talking about sales with her! Best of luck to you Sue, thanks for teaching me how to fix all my mistakes, and if you ever decide to clean out your closets, call me first!!
As for the party itself, the food was not the greatest, the dessert was super nasty. But the company was great. So I guess that is all that matters. Thanks for making me feel right at home girls, and fitting me into the group!!

Blizzard...

Well, the snow has come. People have talked about it since I got here, and it finally arrived. The first BIG storm of the year. It started snowing really bad yesterday, and we got the news that we were on blizzard warning late monday night. Due to the warning, and the snow, most of our patients cancelled. Since I live close to the clinic, I offered to stay and work urgent care. Lucky for me, urgent care was cancelled, because not a single patient had called in for an appt.

Since it is usually dark when I get off work, one of the girls that I work with was afraid that if she did go home that she wouldnt make it back for work the next day because the roads would be closed. So she decided to crash at my house! It was kinda fun to have someone here, someone to talk to. I think I scared her a little with my winter driving skills though, or lack there of! We ate pizza, and watched a movies.

When we got up to go to work, I thought that I would check out the situation to see how bad the snow had drifted. I couldn't even open the back door to my apartment! There is about three feet of snow blocking the door! We watched people from my front room over and over try to get their cars out of the snow. I decided I had better see if I could get someone to give us a ride to work. Just as I was doing this, I got a call from my boss to tell me that they were closing the clinic until 12:00. Sweet! Hannah and I went and got some doughnuts from the bakery, which is always delish!

Later on they told us that the clinic would be closed all day. It looked as though the roads were pretty clear, so we decided that we had better see what the situation looked like with my car. The above picture is what we found! If you look close, you can sort of see the stairs going up to my apartment. Trust me, it could have been a lot worse. I just backed my car out, cleared the snow off, and everything was fine!!

We are in for more snow, and the windchill is supposed to get down to -30 tonight. So I am trying to stay inside as much as I can! It is a good thing that I have groceries!! This is so exciting!!

Happy Birthday Chasers!!!

This is my man Chase. My nephew. It was his birthday today. He is one of the coolest little kids I know. He has the sense of humor of my dad. He comes up with the funniest one liners and he doesn't even know that he is being funny. When I was back in Utah, he would always play guitar hero with me. I bought it for my nephews a couple Christmases ago, and he is pro at it!! And look out girls, he is already a ladies man!! Last year after a pep rally at his elementary school, he asked a high school cheerleader for her phone number, and she gave it to him!! He turned 8 going on 28 today and I just wanted to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY Chasers!! Hope you had an awesome day! Love ya and miss ya! Aunt Meagie.

Oh Christmas Tree....

Here is my current Christmas tree. This lovely pre-lit and pre-decorated wonder was given to me by Dottie, a fellow PCC, at STJMC. This glorious spruce stands just over an astounding two inches tall. Clean up is so easy, and it needs little storage space. I know, I know, you all must be SO jealous right now, but please, try to contain yourselves.

I thought that this little wonder would do the trick, until a package arrived at my door stuffed full of presents from my mum!! Now I really might have to get a tree!
